Which aspects do you think makes a person unique?

In all my years of schooling, I don’t think I ever saw someone get picked on for something truly icky.

🤍

It was always stuff that, to be honest, I very much liked.

🤍

One of my friends was picked on for her beautiful, frizzy, larger-than-life hair. Another was picked on for her love of reading books.

🤍

Yet another was picked on for being a straight-A student.

🤍

I was picked on for being shy and corny.

🤍

But you know what? By the age of thirty I realized… I like being shy! I’m cool with being introverted.

And yes, I also love being corny 😁 Silly jokes and daydreaming and covering my Kindle Fire in Lisa Frank stickers ✨

It’s part of what makes me unique and… me.

🤍

If you’re not sure what makes you unique, think back to middle school or high school.

🤍

Chances are, whatever you got picked on is exactly what makes you an interesting person!

    I just had a random conversation with my co-worker about this. I remain humble, sometimes maybe a little too much, and that’s not a humble brag.

    I’ve had friends, who I greatly respect tell me, “celebrate your wins, celebrate you finished college, celebrate everything that’s positive.”

    On the other end, I’ve had family members complain that I am showing off, or broadcasting my wins, or good things I am doing in life. The middle ground doesn’t seem to exist.

    Also, when I was younger, being a light skinned kid growing up in the 80’s and 90’s, I was picked on for being different, but the excuses were, being light skinned(perceived) as better looking, or also because I was really bright when it came to mathematics, which often was tied into being light skinned.

    I never gave a f*, and I think that’s why I am who I am today.
